Jan. 11, 2010 Delaware's average gas price rose four cents over the weekend to $2.71 a gallon on Monday, Jan. 11, AAA Mid-Atlantic reported. That number is up about $1 from a year ago and $1 lower than the peak gas price of more than $4 in the summer of 2008. Gas prices in the Newark area were slightly lower than the state norm at some stores. The current average is 10 cents higher than a week ago. Diesel held overnight at $2.96. Dover gas average also rose four cents since Friday to $2.70 on Jan. 11. The average is 11 cents higher than a week ago. Diesel holds overnight at $2.88.
