Greensboro-based Volvo Trucks North America announced that it has produced its 300,000th Volvo Group 13-Liter heavy-duty diesel engine, a milestone that company officials say speaks to Volvo’s size, stability and performance. Volvo officials celebrated the milestone July 15 at the company’s facility in Hagerstown, Md. Production of the Volvo 13-Liter engine production began in Skövde, Sweden, in 2005. Today, the engines also are assembled in Curitiba, Brazil, and Hagerstown. “As one of the world’s largest producers of heavy-duty diesel engines, we’ve made the investments — both globally and in Hagerstown — to ensure we remain on the leading edge of powertrain development and production,” said Denny Slagle, president and CEO of Volvo Trucks North America, in a statement. “The fact that we were the first certified to the EPA10 standards, and were ready early enough to begin filling orders last fall, is a testament to our powertrain expertise.” Read more: Volvo produces 300,000th 13-Liter diesel engine - The Business Journal of the Greater Triad Area |
